Impressions of the Fire (10:07, 2025) is an intimate film made in the immediate aftermath of the Eaton (Altadena) fire, sponsored by the Valmont Foundation. The film reflects on the emotional and material residue of loss, resilience, and communal care.
Through conversations with artists Laura Parker and Camilla Taylor, who both lost their homes and studios in the fire, the film offers a grounded, human perspective on catastrophe—one shaped not by spectacle, but by lived experience. Their voices move between grief, disorientation, and the slow work of reimagining a future after rupture.
Parker and Taylor were two of ten artists selected by Marcos Lutyens and Laura Whitcomb to receive emergency support through generous grants from the Valmont Foundation, foregrounding the role of direct, artist-led aid in moments of crisis. Interwoven with these testimonies are ritualistic fire effigies created by Yi-Ping, which function less as symbols of destruction than as acts of witnessing and transformation.

The film has been screened in Beverly Hills, New York, and Venice, Italy, extending its intimate reflection on loss and recovery into an international public context.
